LAXTEC

Originally formed in 1982, as LAXTEC, a nonprofit corporation by twenty major international airlines who would occupy the new Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX. LAXTEC’s original mission was to design, finance, install, operate and maintain all passenger and aircraft support equipment at the TBIT.

On October 1, 2011, LAXTEC was transitioned to TBITEC due to changing LAWA requirements. TBITEC maintains certain infrastructure equipment at the Tom Bradley International Terminal Building (TBIT) for the airline tenants. TBITEC may, at the request of the airlines, and upon approval by the shareholders, procure and maintain assets as a cost-effective alternative for the tenants/users of TBIT. TBITEC and its Member Committee delegate the responsibility for the day-to-day operational issues related the TBIT facility and the use of TBITEC assets to the TBITEC Airline Operations Committee.

On August 1, 2015, TBITEC welcomed the 5 domestic Airlines of Terminal 3 into the membership and assumed responsibility of the Terminal 3 BHS, PBB, GSE Equipment, and select janitorial and terminal operations.  The total combined annual passengers for 2015 were estimated to top 14 million.

On May 17, 2017, as part of the largest Airline relocation in LAX history, TBITEC relocated Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 operations to Terminal 5.

Effective January 1, 2025, TBITEC has officially transitioned to our new name, LAXTEC.  The new name aligns more closely with our role in supporting a wide range of common use operations across Los Angeles International Airport.
